Bring back Post Office Services to Fairlight!
It is great news that the Fairlight village shop will be reopening on Sat 27th June, but local residents are keen that Post Office services return to the village. Add your name to the Post Office CEO letter to show your support for a post office in Fairlight.
See below for the text of my letter.
Dear Neil,
Re: The reinstatement of a Post Office at The Fairlight Store, 5 Battery Hill,
Fairlight TN35 4AP
I am writing on behalf of my constituents in the village of Fairlight to ask that you
reconsider your decision not to allow the reinstatement of post office services at the
village shop.
Fairlight, with a population of over 1700, many of whom are over the age of 65
has been without a Post Office for several years and without any village shop for the
last two.
The nearest Post Offices for villagers are over 2 miles away, a hilly walk along a busy
road with, for long stretches, no pavement. Bus services are infrequent and
unreliable meaning that for many local residents using a post office is impossible.
The village shop is making very welcome return tomorrow and the new
owner Kamalaharan Sivapuranathan is already the sub postmaster at a successful
village shop and post office in the village of Iden.
The village and its residents are in dire need of post office services they can use and
we now have the opportunity, thanks to Kamal, to reinstate the Post Office in the
village shop where it is needed both for customers and to ensure that the shop is the
success and community asset it deserves to be.
I will be sharing this letter and asking residents to add their names to show the
strength of feeling in the community and the number of residents who would make
use of the Post Office were it to be reinstated.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely,
Helena Dollimore MP
