SEND Survey

This autumn, plans to improve SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) support will be announced. I know that this is an incredibly sensitive and important issue for many families in Hastings and Rye. I know that many of you are now experts in SEND support, having battled with the difficult and confusing current system, and I would like your experiences locally to feed into these changes.

Please fill out the survey below if you would like to help:

1. If you could include any measure in the new SEND reforms, what would it be and why?

2. The Labour Government has just put more funding into the system to support better outcomes investing £1 billion into high needs SEND support. This means over £7 million of extra SEND Investment here in East Sussex. How would you like to see that money spent by East Sussex County Council?

3. Do you have any examples of great SEND practice in a Hastings and Rye school that you would like to see replicated across the country in upcoming reforms?

4. If you are a parent/carer whose child is at a special school, do you think their needs could have been met at a mainstream school if the provision was better?

5. If you have heard/read reports about upcoming SEND reform, are there any elements that you are concerned about?

6. Is there anything else you would like to raise with me about this issue?
